Assessment Coding
Assessment of this program of study is based on competency-based principles.
S = Satisfactory
NS = Not Satisfactory

Students who fail to perform satisfactorily for the assessment in the prescribed date may be assessed as ‘not satisfactory’. You are required to be assessed as ‘Satisfactory’ on completion of Assessments assigned by your assessor for this unit of competency.

Re-assessment :
Any re-assessment is conducted as soon as practicable after you have been informed of the requirement to be re-assessed and have been given the opportunity to be re-trained and assimilate the training. You are re-assessed in only the areas assessed NS. Task 1
Question one

Your first project management task is to prepare a work breakdown structure (WBS) to plan the required activities and to cost project resources.

The most effective way to establish the WBS is to consult with your stakeholders. To do this you must participate in a collaborative activity.

• Your trainer will advise you of the dates and times the sessions will be taking place.
• Participation in an arranged session is compulsory.
• During the session, each student needs to contribute to the discussion as a project stakeholder and with
your trainer identify the tasks to be included in your project work breakdown structure.
• This media clip can help you create a WBS. You will need your Blackboard log in to access this clip.

Use the template below to structure your WBS.
Note: This template has a column for costs, which you will complete in the next question; only complete the WBS tasks and activities at this stage. Open this template and save it as

BSBPMG514 WBS with costs your name initial
It will need to be uploaded after the next question (2b).

Question two
After completing the WBS, you need to estimate costs for the project.
To estimate all costs required to complete a project, managers and teams use information available and
assumptions, to plan the required costs. Use the following email from Lucy Lowin sky and the Historical costs from the awards night last year, to help you with your planning:

Historical costs are below. Note the number of guests at the event last year and consider this when estimating your costs. Not all costs will be the same from event to event, use this information as a guide.

2 a To estimate costs, use the information provided. You anticipate choosing the most economical option from the hotel for dinner. Record an estimated cost for each marked task in your WBS.

Open the document you saved before as:

Complete the column for costs as marked save and upload as required.
