This is a simulated assignment to demonstrate your skills in:
i. collecting information for the assignment (nature and conditions of assignment)
ii. determining your suitability for the job based on the information collected
iii. reviewing your own competence to undertake the assignment
iv. advising your clients and booking agencies of your decision
v. developing your work and preparation plan
vi. evaluating your plan and preparation for the assignment

Assessment Instructions 
This task simulates a real-life scenario whereby you decline or accept an assignment and plan and prepare for your assignment.
Part 1: Respond, plan and prepare for an interpreting assignment
Part 2: Respond, plan and prepare for a translating assignment.
You must prepare and plan for both the interpreting and translating tasks.

Instructions for Part 1 – Interpreting and Part 2 – Translating
This is a simulated task where it is assumed that you are an interpreter and translator with NAATI credentials. In
this task you are offered an interpreting assignment and a translating assignment and you are expected to

Conditions for assessment 

1. This assessment is to be completed individually.
2. You must provide an answer to each question in Section B and your completed report must be submitted to Canvas on the due date.
3. To achieve a satisfactory result, you will need to answer all questions satisfactorily in Section B.
4. You will be assessed as satisfactory or not satisfactory.
5.Please make arrangements with your teacher at least one week prior to the assessment due date if you feel you require adjustment to the assessment of any part of this task.
6. Where an extension of greater than seven days is needed, you must apply for special consideration.
7. If you have an equitable assessment arrangement which provides for negotiation of submission dates extensions of more than seven days may be considered.
8. If you don’t meet the criteria for the task, you will be provided with an opportunity to resubmit work.
9. You can appeal the assessment decision according to the RMIT Assessment Processes.
10. Please note that as this is competency-based training, you must achieve a result of ‘SATISFACTORY’ for each assessment task. Failure to submit an assessment task will result in a ‘NOT YET COMPETENT’ grade for the unit and it may affect your eligibility to graduate.
