Description:
Students will be provided with a video clip of a therapy session, sessions notes (from 2 sessions), completed psychometric assessments (apart from the DASS21 which needs to be scored), a GP mental health care plan and collateral information on the client. Other than the GP, the other health professionals involved are a Psychiatrist, a Physiotherapist and a Rehabilitation Nurse.

Students are asked to create an evidence-based CBT treatment plan consisting of 10 sessions.

The assignment must include the following:

• A one-page letter (single spaced) to the GP (cc’d to the other health professionals involved as well as the client) which includes:
  o an appropriate, informative, but not too revealing summary of key aspects of your assessment, formulation, diagnosis and
  o a general indication of the planned treatment and its initial primary focus.
• A CBT case formulation diagram, with components referred to and explained in text.
• Recent empirical literature supporting the use of the chosen treatment for this client’s diagnosis/es.
• A 10-session treatment plan incorporating evidence-based CBT strategies/techniques and including:
  o An agenda for each of the 10 sessions included in the treatment plan.
  o An outline of CBT strategies and/ or techniques that will be included within each session, and how they will be applied to the client.
  o Homework tasks that will be set for the client in each session and
  o Recommendations for further treatment or follow-up after the 10 sessions have been implemented with the client.

• An explanation of how the client’s case formulation informed the choice of treatment and aspects of the treatment plan and
• An overview of strengths and weaknesses of the chosen approach for this client,using empirical evidence and the case formulation to support these claims.
