Assessment Task: Presentation
NATURE OF THE TASK : Students will be required to deliver a presentation. Students within a group will be required to work together to research, structure and deliver their presentation. However, each student will receive an individual mark for this assessment task.Students will be evaluated on their presentation skills, their knowledge of the assigned task and ability to apply relevant theory to each question.Presentations will take place in-person in class.Each group member is required to present for a minimum of 3 minutes, but no longer than 4 minutes.Each group will have between 3 – 5 members.

INSTRUCTIONS :
Presentation groups will be formed based on the product selected/allocated for the Business Marketing Plan as the businesses will create a response based on the market industry.
Students are required to create a presentation in response to the questions posed below. Presentations must be accompanied by a PowerPoint slideshow.Presentations will take place in-person in class. Students will be required to have their cameras on (if online) and their face visible for the duration of their group’s presentation. If a student does not turn on their camera and/or does not have their face visible for this assessment task they will be awarded a zero mark for this task.

Note that the first slide in your presentation should include the following information:

• The market and product
• The names of all students in the group
• The student ID number of all students in the group
• Class time and class group number

The second slide in your presentation should include the following table, which outlines each student’s
contribution to the presentation:

Group member contribution table – Complete the following table for ALL members of your group. Detail the tasks that each group member did.

Throughout the rest of the presentation slides each student should identify which slides they have produced by placing their name and Student ID at the bottom of the relevant slide/s.

Please note, each group member will cover at least one question. Each student within the group must participate and deliver part of the presentation. Each student is required to address at least one (or more) of the questions provided below, depending on the number of group members.

If any student experiences difficulties with their group members, they should notify their teacher well in advance so that the situation can be rectified before the submission due date.

It is expected that all questions provided below will be answered within the group’s presentation.

Use Power Point to create slides that will accompany your presentation. Make sure that images, and text are relevant to, and support, the discussion presented in the Presentation.

SCENARIO:
Complete the missing economy indicators in table below. Then use the information in the table to determine the state of the Australian economy:

1.Current economic situation and impact of an economic shock on the economy

a) What is the size of the output gap? How does the output gap relate to the amount and types of
unemployment the Australian economy is currently experiencing (as given in the table)?
b) Which phases of the business cycle do you think the Australian economy is experiencing? (Hint: include a business cycle diagram to illustrate your answer.)
c) Suppose the Australian economy now faces an economic shock i.e. severe storms and floods nationally. Explain with reference to the multiplier effect, how this will impact on output, income and unemployment.

2.Economic impact of economic shock on the market for your product and your firm
a) Assuming your product operates in a perfectly competitive market, explain the effect of the economic shock, outlined in Section 1(c) above, on the market for your product. (Hint: Use a demand and supply diagram.)

b) As a result of the effect on the market, explain how this economic shock might affect the pricing and
production of your product? (Hint: Would you change the price you charge consumers for your product? Why or why not? Would you alter how much you produce to sell? Why or why not?)

3.Financial effect on the business due to the economic shock
a) Discuss the specific impact of the economic shock on your firm/business.
b) How will it affect your Financial Statements?
c) How is it going to affect your Budgeted Financial Statements?
d) Will the impact affect the business variances? If yes, which variances and how so?

4.Effect on Marketing Strategy of your business due to the economic shock
What changes would you incorporate into your Business Marketing Plan in consideration of the economic shock?

5.Possible economic policy responses and their impact on your firm
a) How would the government react to the economic shock?
b) How would the Reserve Bank react to the economic shock?
c) Would these policies help or hinder your business?

How To Present Your Assignment
The marking criteria rubric has been provided at the end of this document.
1.Remember to number the slides.
2.Through out the presentation slides each student should identify which slides they have produced by placing their name and Student ID at the bottom of the relevant slide/s.
3.All presentations must include a reference list. You are required to use the Harvard Referencing style.
Provide the reference list at the end of the presentation. A minimum of one (1) source is expected. It is expected that all students will refer to the Workbook for additional detail on the theoretical underpinnings of their section.
4.Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create slides that will accompany your presentation. Make sure that
images and text are relevant to and support the discussion presented in the Presentation.

The University provides PowerPoint (as part of the Microsoft Office suite of software) free to all University students. Please go to this link for information on how to download this software onto your computer:

5.Each student needs to create PowerPoint slides for his or her section(s). The PowerPoint slides should
be sent to one group member (the team leader) who will combine all slides into one file.

6.The team leader will upload the combined PowerPoint file to the assignment link provided in iLearn.

The only accepted file type for upload is:
• Microsoft PowerPoint® (.pptx, .ppt)
No other file types will be accepted.
Note: Files must be less than 500 MB. If your presentation is larger than 500 MB, try compressing the images contained in your presentation.

(IMPORTANT: This task is to be completed by only ONE student from within each group. Within each
group students will need to choose who will be responsible for this task).

Submission Instructions For Power point Slides
Nominate ONE group member the team leader to submit the group’s PowerPoint presentation to the assignment submission link on iLearn so that there is only one submission per group prior to the deadline.

Due to the nature of this task, re submissions of the group’s PowerPoint file after the due date, are not
permitted.

Verify that your submission was successful.

You must check that your submission is displayed on iLearn after submitting it.

When you successfully submit your assignment, you will see a message that confirms receipt of the assignment and includes the submission time and date. You then need to click on your submitted assignment to check that it can be displayed in the submission link.
