Case Study
Ford Pty Ltd is an electronic goods manufacturer and supplier with its branches all over Australia. Its main branch is in Brisbane.

The business across Australia is expanding and the demands of the goods are increasing. Due to this expanding business, one of the offices of Ford Pty Ltd in Adelaide is planning to upgrade the ICT infrastructure to meet business requirement. Ford Pty Ltd recently amended its policy so that
employee can work from the home. But this is not being effective as employee cannot access the resources in the office. It is willing to implement advanced technologies that requires less management, less consumption of energy and meets the ICT sustainability norms. Ford Pty Ltd
organises meeting every three-month including its key stakeholder in the Brisbane. Every key stake holder must travel to Brisbane to attend the meeting. Ford Pty Ltd wants to minimize the cost due to longer travel time.

To accommodate the new office and staffs Ford Pty Ltd leased two additional floor in the building they occupied in an Adelaide suburb. The building has four floors and a basement car park. Ford now leases the first, second and third floors. The existing offices remain on the third floor, with the new office space on the first and second floor. Other businesses, not related to Ford, currently lease remaining other floors. There were fifteen staff on the first floor. Additional ten staff in each floor has been planned to add during the expansion of the Adelaide Branch.

For now, Adelaide office has already 35 workstations in office including those for additional staff, one Cisco 2911 Integrated Router, three 24 port cisco catalyst 2960 switches, one server running active directory, file server and print server. Another server is also used to host their SQL database.
Currently, they have an internal web server to host their Intranet and an external web server to host their website and emails.

The existing computer network is ON 5 days per week 24 hours per day.

You have been assigned to perform to study sustainability of the project and determine the feasible solution. During the implementation of the network infrastructure in the office you must integrate sustainability into planning and designing of ICT Project.

Task-1 Evaluate and Present
In this task you are required to evaluate the current situation of Adelaide Branch and integrate concept of sustainability into the planning phase. During this task you are required to negotiate with stakeholders and research on possible solution of the given case.

Some of the area that can be considered are:
• Server Virtualization
• Deployment of RDP to encourage employees to work from home
• Cloud Computing Deployment
• Installation of solar panels on company rooftops
• Switching to low carbon fuel such as LPG for motor vehicle fleet

In this task you are required to summarise your research in not more than 10 slides and present to the IT Manager of the Ford Pty Ltd. This presentation must include the power consumption data for all the suggestion given.

Task-1 Review the current Infrastructure
In this task you are required to enlist the devices used in Ford Pty Ltd, Adelaide and calculate energy cost of those devices.

Additional to this calculate the CO 2 emission for the Adelaide Office. To calculate CO 2 Emissions using Electricity Consumption go to first calculate average electricity consumption of the Adelaide office and go the Carbon Neutral, in the Electricity Consumption box enter the value for consumed energy.

Using the given template, write the business case for implementing possible solutions in order of priority. The more significant of the two will be the prioritized solution whilst the other will be regarded as the secondary solution.

Your business will case include an energy audit. You are to estimate and compare the amount of energy the two solutions will consume.
