7.List and briefly describe methods of evaluation and planning approaches to technical problems and strategic objectives?
8.List few (at least 3) tools/ techniques that can be used to evaluate competing and complementary internal and external ICT systems and products.
9.Briefly describe ways to keep track of current and emerging ICT systems and products trends and directions.

Purpose of the Assessment
This assessment task requires students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in evaluating current strategic plan, propose changes, evaluate effect of changes and plan implementation of changes.

Assessment Description
This task requires students to demonstrate that they have skills and knowledge to review business strategic plan provided below, identify ICT gap, recommend changes, evaluate effect of changes and develop action plan for implementation.

Instructions
Recently you have been hired as an ICT consultant in BCC Design to review existing ICT systems and infrastructures of the organisation.

Your ICT Manager (your assessor) has asked you to review BCC Design’s strategic plan, objectives and directions (BCC Design Simulated Case Study) and do followings:

  • Evaluate current strategic plan and propose changes,
  • Evaluate effect of changes and
  • Plan implementation of changes

1.Analyse and document current strategic plan of BCC Design against industry environment and organisational objectives.
2.Review current ICT systems and practices and summarise your findings.
3.Compare BCC Design’s strategic plan objectives and current state of ICT. Determine ICT gaps, improvement opportunities and propose changes.
Use the Gap Analysis Report template (Appendix 2) provided by your assessor to complete this task.
4.Meet with your ICT Manager (your assessor) and discuss your gaps, improvement opportunities and proposed changes. Submit meeting notes as evidence of discussion and reporting.
5.Based on the discussion you have had with your manager (your assessor), you are now required to write a report.
Your report should address (but not limited to) followings:

  • Evaluate impact of proposed changes to ICT systems and products against strategic objectives of organisation
  • Evaluate the difficulty of implementing proposed changes to ICT systems and products
  • Prioritised proposed changes that will assist in scheduling implementation
  • Describe evaluation process

6.Meet with your ICT Manager (assessor) to discuss your report. Make changes if recommended. Submit notes of your meeting.

7.Develop action plan to implement your proposed changes in line with priority ranking and organisational policies and procedures. Your action plan must detail standards, targets, implementation methods etc.

8.Meet with your ICT Manager (assessor), provide actions plans for feedback, and make changes (if suggested).

9.Provide evidence of approval

10.Submit all evidences to your assessor within agreed time and manner.
