Assessment 1:-
Assessment type: PM Concepts – Multiple Choice Quiz on Moodle – Individual assessment

Purpose: This assessment will allow students to re-enforce their understanding of basic project management concepts. This assessment contributes to learning outcome a.

Value: 5%

Task Details: Ten (10) multiple choice questions covering the topics and readings from week 1, including fundamentals of project management and the different approaches of PMBOK and Agile methodologies. Each correct MC answer is worth 1⁄2 mark.

Assessment 2
Assessment type: Group Work & Project Activity Report Writing using PMBOK guideline
Purpose: This assessment will allow students to work as a team of 3 or 4, demonstrate their understanding of the basic concepts of PMBOK including defining the project charter, scope, scheduling, budget and project plan. Students will learn how IT projects are managed in the industry and will also play various roles a typical project team comprised of, such as project manager, team member and other stakeholders. This assessment contributes to learning outcomes b and d.

Value: 25%

Submission: Each group must submit electronic copy of the project reports through Moodle by the specified due dates.

Assessment topic: Students are given a project case study scenario including details of required project resources, time frames and outcomes required. They need to complete and submit each of the PMBOK reports required periodically, which will form a complete project plan for the project.

Project Background: An Australian based IT Managed Services is SortCMS P/L. They currently provide a range of Content Management System (CMS)/Website for external customers. They are currently work in various industries and the most recently for sporting organisations. They have recently won a contract to provide a CMS/Website (Extranet) that will used by Australian Women Soccer team (the Waltzing Matildas) team for lead up to; and for the upcoming FIFA World cup in 2023 in Australia/New Zealand.

Project Objective – Appoint your team to implement a CMS based website that is re-usable later by other sporting organisations but provides for “Waltzing Matildas” for managing events prior to and for world cup in 2023.

It is development project of Content Management System/Website.

Modules needed are
o Player Details and statistics.
o Team Details and statistics.
o Events and statistics.
o ABOUT: unique aspects of the sporting organisation like history, contact details, teams, etc. [like a typical website]
o Tracks sponsors (Westfield) & advertising (the sporting organisation may need to raise a charge for advertising).
o Souvenirs and sale able.
o Module that will focus on FIFA World Cup 2023 exclusively.

There will be events in most capital cities, and they require each event to have a separate calendar and be capable of being managed independently of each other and being relocated (if the need arises).

Desired Outcomes:
o You need to select the Content Management System and development tools. FIFA has suggested DRUPAL for the CMS.
o The system needs to be fully available on robust infrastructure in cloud.
o You need to specify the production environment. FIFA will provide it.
o The website will require current sport team data to be imported, including the international teams that are competing in the FIFA World Cup 2023.
o Set-up resources (development and test environment) and development teams and project management resources.

o Interfaces to financial systems through standard file format interface (DRUPAL has).
o It requires advanced security. They are two implementations- one is general website publicly available, other is one extranet with more features with only approved subscriber access (for doing updates, etc.)

Purpose: This assessment will allow students to work as a team of 3 or 4, demonstrate their understanding of the basic concepts of PMBOK, specifically creating a:

o Scope Statement
o Stakeholder Register
o Risk Treatment Log
o Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
o Schedule [Critical Path Management (CPM), Network and Gantt Chart]
o Budget
o A group team member contribution log (Report)
o Overall Project Plan

You will be supplied with only some limited templates in the tutorials. It is up to your group to supplement and create the overall project plan.

Submission of the Complete Project documents must be made using Turnitin submission folder available on the course Moodle page. Appropriate citation using Harvard referencing technique must be used where application. Plagiarism of the assignment submission will be considered as academic misconduct and may result in penalty.

Assessment 3
Assessment type: Group Work & Project Activity Report Writing following AGILE methodology

Purpose: This assessment will allow students to work as a team of 3 or 4, demonstrate their understanding of AGILE project management methodology and apply their knowledge to initiate and manage a case study project using AGILE software. Students will learn emerging application of AGILE methodology in IT project management and utilise various software tools to manage the project. This assessment contributes to
learning outcomes c and d.

Value: 15%

Assessment topic: Students are given a project case study scenario including details of required project resources, time frames and outcomes required. They will set up their project team under Slack and Trello and run the case study project as an Agile project using the provided case study information.

Task details: The same case study will be utilised again from Assessment 2

This Assessment 3 will utilise Agile Method (Kanban) and the groups will need write a report that compares and contrast the different methods relative advantages and disadvantages i.e. PMBOK versus Agile Method (Kanban).

Assignment Submission Requirements: Students are required to form a small group of 3 – 4 persons. Agile Methodology MUST be used for this assignment.
o Each group must setup team on SLACK and communicate between team using SLACK.
o Furthermore, group also needs to setup team on Trello and manage project using Trello.
o Project reports must follow Agile methodology format that will provide on Moodle and covered in tutorials.
o Group must be able to demonstrate communication between members, division of responsibility, agreement and disagreement between team.

The weight of the assignment is 15% of the overall marks of the unit. Each group should upload required document/s using appropriate submission folder on the Moodle before the deadline.

Assessment type: Agile Concepts – Multiple Choice Quiz on Moodle – Individual assessment
Purpose: This assessment will allow students to re-enforce their understanding of basic Agile project management concepts. This assessment contributes to learning outcome c.
Value: 5% Due Date: Week 11 in usual tutorial time slots using Moodle.


Task Details: Ten (10) multiple choice questions covering the Agile methodology of project management and the different approaches of PMBOK and Agile methodologies. Each correct MC answer is worth 1⁄2

Assessment 5
Assessment type: Final Exam – individual assessment; closed book – 50 Marks. Duration: 2,5 hours plus 10 minutes reading time.

Purpose: The purpose of the final examination is to test your understanding of basic concepts of project management and the PMBOK and Agile methodologies covered throughout the trimester. This assessment
contributes specifically to learning outcomes a, b, c and d.

Value: 50%

Topic: The examination may cover content from any part of the subject.
