You are required to complete one written task, which has two components and a project for HLTWHS003 Maintain health and safety.

Part A – Risk assessment

Complete the risk assessment table below to ensure that safe work strategies are in place prior to an excursion to your local zoo/wildlife park by bus. Alternatively you may use the Excursion risk management plan template from the NQF Library section of the ACECQA website:
This risk assessment must comply with relevant regulatory and compliance
requirements as outlined in the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011, Part 7, Division 4 and the National Quality Standards 2.3.2.
If using the risk assessment table provided, use the risk rating matrix also provided below to help complete the ‘risk rating’ section of the table.

Identify any hazards and risks and rate the risks:
1.Divide the activity into tasks
2.Identify the hazards and associated risks for each task
3.List the risk controls already in place (including any residual risks)
4.Determine a risk rating using the risk rating matrix below.

Part B – WHS legislative requirements
Student instructions
Part B requires you to complete the following tasks:
1.Use the internet to access the workplace health and safety legislation relevant to your state or territory.
2.List the websites that you accessed to obtain this information.
3.List the acts, regulations and codes of practice that you accessed.
4.Refer to the information in Question 3 to identify the responsibilities of duty holders in education and care services. Explain the duties that these individuals need to perform in the workplace.
