Final Evaluation Of Learning Assessment 2 – Australia.

Final Evaluation Of Learning Assessment 2 - Australia.

Purpose: To reflect on and assess significant learning and intercultural development since the beginning of the paper, guided by the question ‘Where are you now compared to then?’Remember to focus on a SIGNIFICANT example of learning only (choose one to describe in D section). You will need to explore this in depth using relevant theories (from weeks 1 to 10) to strengthen your interpretation (I) section. Please reference all theory using APA 7th Edition for in-text citations and the reference list. LOs 1-4 will be assessed.

Use the DIE approach to:

(WHAT? +contextual WHY?)

Describe : Briefly describe 1 reaction to a trigger from experiential and reflective activities, and classroom activities (Weeks 1-10), that illustrates significant learning for you during the semester. It can be some thing that triggered a reaction and that you now have a different perspective on, or a better under standing of your reaction, or something which has caused to you to question your worldview (values, beliefs, attitude and behaviour). For example:

  • something that you realised / said in your weekly tasks
  • a comment by a classmate or teacher
  • a strong reaction to an activity / new information
  • describe any differences to the attitude and behaviour of your classmates if relevant.

Do not describe the activity or incident in detail – they are only the context. Use IC theoretical terminology/concepts as necessary in your description.

A trigger is an indication that you consciously engaged with the new knowledge and interactions. You will probably need to go beneath the surface to identify why this has been a trigger for you, and to avoid
just being descriptive.

The trigger should enable you to reflect on how much you have changed: what you NOW understand about how your values and beliefs influence your identity, worldview, attitude and behaviour. The trigger
can be something in an activity, something you or your classmates said, or a comparison with what a classmate said. (LO 1, 2, 3)

I (HOW AND WHY?)

Interpret:
Interpret (explain) the attitude and behaviour you have described in your D paragraph. Link to your values and beliefs and use any relevant theory you have learnt to support your explanation.

1.Why the new knowledge was significant (LO1, 2, 4)
2.Why there was the conflict with your worldview (values, beliefs and expectations). What values, beliefs and expectations were influencing you. You can discuss conflicts between the personal, social and cultural levels, depending on which you identify the most with. (LO 1, 2,
3.Why there were similarities and differences between your world view and those of your group members. (LO 1, 2, 4)
4.Why you experienced or did not experience an intercultural incident or had to manage different perspectives and communication styles. What values and beliefs influenced you? (LO 1, 2, 3, 4)

(SO WHAT?)

Evaluate/Outcome : Based on your interpretation, evaluate (assess) what the outcome has
been. What new understandings do you have, what changes in perspective do you have? These might be changes in your under standing of your own cultural identity and your worldview since the beginning of the semester, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and how you are doing in relation to the LO 1, 2, 3.

1.What you learnt about your identity and worldview (values, beliefs, expectations) and that of your group members as a result of that significant learning – have you discovered new core values and beliefs,
or changed any i.e. has your cultural (national, cultural or personal) framework shifted?

2.What the implications of your greater understanding and awareness will be on your attitude and behaviour in interactions in the future.

3.What you think are your strengths and weaknesses (check the learning outcomes) and what you might need to work on and what might happen if you don’t.
