1.What do you consider as the main differences between ‘childhood’ and ‘adolescence’?

Childhood and adolescence are two distinct periods in a person’s life when they are in the process of maturing and developing. Mental as well as sexual development are intertwined throughout different stages of the menstrual cycle. This is during childhood that most of a person’s mental and physical development happens; adolescence begins with puberty and lasts into maturity, during which time main and secondary sexual characteristics emerge and mature. Most of the changes that take place in infancy have to do with the development of the mind and the body. Puberty brings about several changes in a person’s body and mind, the majority of which are connected to sexual development (Mandy et al., 2018).

2.How is gender defined by Tait (2018)? Do you agree with his definition? Why/why not?

The socially manufactured qualities of women men girls as well as boys are all included under the umbrella term gender.This encompasses everything from gender roles and social expectations to every day interactions between women, men, girls, and boys Gender is a social construct that differs from culture to culture and may change with time. I agree with the gender defined by Tait (2018) because it is important to distinguish between gender and sex which relates to a person’s biological and physiological traits like their chromosome count hormone levels and reproductive organs. However, gender and sex are not the same as gender identity. Gender identity relates to a person’s own, internally experienced sense of gender that could or might not be in line with their physiology or the gender they were given at birth (Tait, 2018).

3.What orientation (conservative, liberal, critical or post-modern) did your school take towards sexuality and LGTIQ+ students? How was this orientation demonstrated?

Gay lesbian straight bisexual and asexual are all types of sexual orientations. Topics about sexuality education in our school are complicated by the fact that they draw on a wide range of conceptions of sexuality. As a result of our educational background, we tend to see these debates as multifaceted rather than just antagonistic. Using this new structure, it is possible to distinguish between 28 various narratives on sexuality education, each of which has a different approach to education. Multiple techniques and postmodern viewpoints are advocated in this essay. For individuals who are new to sexuality education this framework serves as an introduction as well as a fresh (re)conceptualization of the discipline (Jones,
2011).

4.In the Week 5 lecture on social class Tiffany Jones outlines different types of capital (slide 16). What are the 3 different types of capital? Give a definition and example for each.

Myth : Social class is all about money.
Tait says other capital besides money impact class:
a.social capital (relations, acquaintances, memberships),
b.symbolic capital (status, prestige and honour),
c.cultural capital (language use, disposition, manners, attire, values, participation in class-based activities).

5.Did you have a Multicultural Day or Harmony Day at your school to recognise different cultural heritage of students? If yes, was it effective in promoting multiculturalism – why/why not? If no, why do you think it was not celebrated?

Yes our school has a Multicultural Day. The goal of multicultural education was to ensure that all students have equitable access to a high-quality education by transforming the school setting to better represent the diversity of the people who live in a given community. It was a good idea to participate in various cultural celebrations.

b. Incorporate a wide range of books into the school library
c. Host a food expo to showcase international cuisines.

Learning about historical individuals who were women may be a good example of multicultural education since it reflects the experiences of students from a wide range of back grounds and can be easily under stood by them
