In this assessment whilst gaining practical experience in group processes you will work together collaboratively effectively and fairly to identify and learn about clinical governance in safety and quality in nursing/midwifery and conference preparation.

Allocate the work fairly to ensure that each member of the group has an opportunity to demonstrate the assessment criteria below by providing a clearly identified individual written contribution to the seminar plan/supporting materials and conference abstracts.

Research and write about 2 group rules that you think will be important to follow in your pending group experience.

Verbally report these rules back to your group members at your first meeting for consideration to use in your group.

Part A
Research and write a 1500-word report/assessment addressing the following question;

‘What is Clinical Governance and how does it support the delivery of safe and high-quality healthcare for patients and consumers?

Once you have a solid under standing about clinical governance this will be the time to start discussing and making conference plans with your group.

Part B
Following a basic introduction in orientation week in week 1 you will commence your group work by starting your group meetings and having your group rules ready for discussion. Finding a mutually convenient time can be very tricky. Creating a ‘doodle poll’ may assist. This is discussed further in MyLO.

In week 2 you should have your second meeting and will have had enough time to have investigated and be beginning to under stand clinical governance.

You will need to determine a seminar theme clearly linking this topic to Governance in Safety and Quality in nursing.

Each student will need to produce 2 conference abstracts (500 words each including ALL references) and ONE of the following;

• a conference flyer,
• a seminar plan/program,
• an evaluation form,
• OR be the student allocated to correlate/put the whole project together and submit the group project into the group assessment drop box (to check the Turnitin) by the due date.

If there are more than three members you may wish to add in another task such as a budget or a hand out on clinical governance.

All members of the group will receive an individual grade commensurate with their contributions as determined by both the group and the marker.

This assessment will be explained/discussed in much more depth in MyLO and in the presentation on assessment 1.

(NB: Students allocated to the group who do not contribute to the project will not receive a mark for this assignment).

Assessment task 2 – Reflective paper :

Task description :-
Critically reflect on your experience of working collaboratively on your group project, demonstrating a theoretical understanding of team development and group process. Your exploration should be
evidence based including discussion on the team roles adopted by you and others within your group and should focus on your own experience to demonstrate new insights and learning achieved during the collaborative process and how these might be applied to your future practice when working in a group situation.

This assessment will be explained/discussed in more depth in My LO and in the presentation on assessment 2.
